Welcome to my website
I’m Dr. Wei Yan, a postdoctoral researcher at Northern Arizona University, where I design culturally responsive professional development and research equitable computer science (CS) and artificial intelligence (AI) education for K–12 learners.
With a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Florida, I have led research on computational thinking integration in elementary mathematics (LTEC project), game-based learning for neurodiverse learners (INFACT project), and the design of instructional technologies that enhance equity in education.
My work focuses on:
• Creating accessible and inclusive CS/AI learning experiences
• Supporting underrepresented educators and communities through culturally grounded pedagogy
• Studying students’ problem-solving behaviors to understand how they navigate complex computing concepts
• Designing and evaluating online courses in STEM disciplines, including metrology and computational thinking
My mission is to empower teachers and learners by developing innovative, research-informed, and culturally sustaining educational solutions.
